PORT HURON, MI – The Port Huron Icehawks kick off a three game road trip tonight with a game in Quad City and will look to get back into the winning column.

The Icehawks opened last week with a big 6-1 victory over the Fort Wayne Komets, before going on to lose three games in a row, including one goal games with Muskegon and Flint and a two goal loss to Fort Wayne on Sunday. Their current three game losing streak is the longest the Icehawks have endured this season. Despite their recent troubles, Port Huron remains in second place in the International Hockey League standings, four points behind the first place Muskegon Lumberjacks.

The second place Icehawks are 11-7-0-3 on the road overall this season. Tonight they travel to Quad City and look to reverse a trend. They have played at iWireless Center three times this season, with each game ending in the same result – a shootout loss. The Icehawks are 3-0-0-3 overall in the season series, with the home team winning in every game.

On Friday, the Icehawks head to Fort Wayne for their first game at Memorial Coliseum since December 9, and their third meeting with the team in two weeks. The teams split a pair of games at McMorran Arena last week, but the Icehawks still hold the advantage in the season series by a mark of 4-2-0-0. The Icehawks are heading into tough territory as the Komets are 14-3-0-1 at home overall this season and are currently riding a six game home winning streak. Port Huron is 1-1 at Memorial Coliseum this season.

Port Huron will wrap up their road trip with a contest at Dayton on Saturday. The Icehawks have been dominant in the season series with the Gems. They have skated to a record of 3-1-0-0 at Hara Arena and 8-1-0-0 in the season series overall, outscoring their opponent 40-20 in the process.

Back On The Ice: Two Icehawks players returned to the ice last week after long stints on IR. Right wing Cory Stillman returned on Tuesday after being out since the middle of December and left wing Mike Kinnie laced up his skates on Saturday for the first time since November 27.

While two players were activated from IR, two others were added to the list. Captain Kevin Hansen was placed on 30-Day IR on January 25 and center Pete Rouleau was placed on 14-Day IR on January 28.

Instant Impact: Forward Brandon Kaleniecki was signed by the Icehawks last Tuesday and has made an instant impact. The fourth year pro and former University Michigan star put up points in all four games he played last week, with five points on two goals and three assists, and a plus-four rating.

Hot Streak: Mickael Bedard (11g, 8a) and Derek Patrosso (7g, 12a) each continued their torrid pace in January with 19 points each in 14 games. Bedard (49) and Patrosso (46) are first and second, respectively in scoring for the Icehawks. Bedard is tied for third in the league in points, while Patrosso currently comes in at sixth. For his efforts, Bedard was named IHL Rookie of the Month for January.
